It’s been a while since I posted a review. In short, I’m not drinking as much soda as I used to (did you know this stuff is full of sugar? Like a lot of sugar!) and so when I do indulge with a soda, mostly I’m sticking with what I know. But recently I was someplace I didn’t know: Iceland, and so I decided to try an Icelandic soda. I chose Appelsín because it was amusing to me that it sounds like “apple” but it’s orange-flavored. There’s a saying about how these two fruits are dissimilar but I can’t recall it at the moment.
Anyway, they sell Appelsín everywhere in Iceland. With good reason, it turns out, as it’s very good! It’s bright and refreshing, and the balance of sweetness is on-point. It’s sweet like orange without being cloying or hanging around on the tongue for too long, as some fruity sodas do. It’s good with a burger or a hot dog (both of which are also everywhere in Iceland), and I can even imagine just drinking one on its own for fun.
Would I buy it again? Yes, and I did, several times
